2.Position your body so that that ball is farther ahead in your stance.

4.Take your normal swing and watch the golf ball fly clearly over the tree.

Advanced Golf Shot: Hitting Off an Uphill Lie

1. Position your body so that the golf ball is closer to the higher foot.

3. Use a less lofted club—an uphill lie promotes higher trajectory and shorter distance.
4. Keep most of your weight on the back foot throughout the swing.
5. Swing along the slope and maintain your balance.

1. Grip down on the club.
2. Position body so that the golf ball is further back in your stance.

Golf Lessons for Beginners: Right way to Proceed

Beginner golfers often struggle with their swing because of information overload.  There are thousands of golf books, golf lessons and golf videos available that can confuse the beginner golfer. 4. The ball should be about three inches forward from center for your driver and aligned with the heel of your forward foot.

Full Swing Golf Lessons

Backswing

Throughout your golf swing, your body should be synchronized.  This starts with the backswing.  So, in your backswing, rotate the club, arms and body back together as you shift your weight to the inside of your back leg.  Your wrists should naturally hinge as they approach your waist.   At the top of the backswing, ensure your leading arm is straight, most of your body weight is on the inside of your back leg and that your back knee is flexed.  Your shoulders should rotate up to 90 degrees at the top of your backswing while your hips rotate from 30 to 45 degrees.

Downswing

Shift your weight toward your forward leg to initiate the downswing.  This weight shift leads your hips, arms and shoulders to follow and unwind to the impact position. At impact, your head remains behind the ball.  Continue turning your body after impact so that your arms and club extend toward the target after impact and finish relaxed with your belt buckle facing your target.

Tried and True Practice Routine to Play Golf Game

A consistent, focused golf practice routine is essential to rapidly improve your golf game and is the best way to practice golf.  Here are a few golf practice tips and golf practice drills you can apply to your practice routine to accelerate your development.

Practice Golf with a Purpose: Recommended Golf Practice Routine

To develop a sound golf game and swing consistency, you should practice golf with a purpose and develop a consistent overall golf practice plan to focus your golf practice sessions.  Here is a tried and true routine you can use as you practice golf:

1. Initiate golf practice session with pre-swing warm up including stretching and tempo golf practice drills.

2. Once warmed up, spend 5 to 10 minutes performing your golf swing in slow motion and emphasize the correct positions for the takeaway, backswing, top of backswing, backswing transition to downswing, downswing impact position, release and follow through.  Practice these golf practice drill while increasing your swing speed until your swing feels natural and fluid.

3. Before you start hitting golf balls, set up an “alignment station” to make sure your golf shots are on target by taking two clubs and setting them up parallel to one another on the ground about 18 inches apart and pointing toward your target.  The club furthest from you should form your “target line” and the club closest to you should be used to align your body parallel to the target line.  Hit your golf ball from the middle of the clubs.

4. Next, practice golf swing tempo and crisp contact by hitting a few short pitch golf shots and chip golf shots.

5. Start moving through your clubs starting with your shorter irons (pitch wedge, nine iron, eight iron).

6. For your first four shots with a particular club, focus on full swing mechanics (do not worry about distance) to help instill the proper golf swing fundamentals.

7. Then, for the next four shots, perform your normal, full golf swing with an emphasis on a smooth, fluid motion.

8. For the rest of your full golf swing golf practice session, alternate between four golf practice shots (with focus on mechanics) and four shots using your normal, full golf swing.

9. Once you have worked through your clubs for the full swing, be sure to devote half of your golf practice session on the short game including full golf pitch shots, chip shots and putting.

How to Cure Golf Fat Shots and Thin Shots

Two of the most frustrating golf swing faults are to hit the golf ball fat or thin.  A golf fat shot is when you hit the turf first before hitting the golf ball and a golf thin shot is when the leading edge of your club strikes the equator of the golf ball.  Both of these golf swing faults can cause a host of errant golf shots (and often result in golfers hurling their clubs in the water).

Below are the common causes and proven cures for both golf fat shots and golf thin shots:

1. Golf grip is too loose or too tight on the club.
2. Golf ball is too far back or too far forward in stance.
3. Weight remains on your back foot at impact.

Great Drills to Fix Golf Hook Shots

LEFT TOE BACK DRILL

Corrects golf hooks caused by excessive IN-OUT swing and encourages proper IN-SQUARE-IN swing path. Also promotes strong balance.

1. Assume your golf setup with 7-iron and without ball.
2. Bring your front foot back and keep your front foot toe on ground. Keep weight on right side.
3. Staying balanced, take 5 to 10 practice swings.
4. Continue drill by hitting balls off tee at half-speed.

HOOK TEE DRILL

Corrects golf hooks caused by excessive IN-OUT swing and encourages proper IN-SQUARE-IN swing path.

1. Place two tees and ball left to right diagonally, creating an IN-SQUARE-IN swing path. Allow about 4"x 4" spacing from each tee to ball.

3. Focus on hitting the golf ball crisply without hitting tees.
4. Hit 5 to 10 practice shots, then return to your normal swing.
